The jail operates continuously. Support Services office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For emergencies, call 911. Use the route that matches the record or custody stage:

  • For a booking record or intake photograph, follow the request steps in the county-wide guide, then contact Sheriff's Records. No fixed local photo fee or response time was found, so identify the exact record and ask for a cost estimate.
  • For current Story County Jail custody, use the official current-inmate link from the Sheriff's Jail Quick Links or call the jail.
  • For recent police activity, remember that the sheriff's daily releases are selective incident bulletins. Ames has separate rolling four-day police reports, while Nevada and Huxley have no official online arrest logs discovered.
  • For a release alert, use VINELink through the sheriff's jail links. VINE provides custody notifications, not court outcomes or booking photographs.
  • For warrant processing, contact Story County Support Services at 515-382-7473 during its posted weekday hours. The Sheriff's Most Wanted guide explains why court or agency confirmation is required.
  • For a filed charge or case outcome, use Iowa Courts Online or contact the Story County court clerk.
  • For a person in state corrections custody or supervision, use the Iowa Department of Corrections Offender Search.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the official Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. These systems do not replace county custody checks.
